This year for Valentines Day Terri and I decided to sty in and enjoy each others company and cook a tasty meal instead of going out and dealing with the crowds. He had a realy good time cooking, the food was excellant and the company was even better!

We had some 3 Cheese Jalapeno Mac N Cheese, Crab Cakes with a Fennel Slaw, Rack of Lamb with a Mint-Cilantro-Honey-Tequila-Chipotle Crust and some Chocolate Covered Strawberries...Good stuff!

So its been awhile since I last posted. Had alot going on with the engagement, wedding planning, christmas, new years and work. Outside of those things not much has been going on. Terri and I are trying to whip ourselves back into shape. So far we have been dong pretty good job. But I have pretty much had one thing on my head the last few weeks....

Hey People! I come to you today with great news! Terri and I are getting hitched! That's right, I dropped the big question last Friday! Friday the 13th to be exact!

I was off on Friday so spent the day getting ready. I blacked out all the windows to make it super dark in the house and laid out tons of candles and flowers, had some Etta James playing in the background and had a rose pedal trail leading to me on one knee. After listening to the rest of our "love tunes playlist" we made some calls and drank some wine and went to dinner!

We had dinner at Serpas True Food which is down the road from us. Dinner was really good! The company was ofcourse better! We had 6 apps and 2 entrees, we were too full for dessert! Seemed like the entire staff know about what had just happened. Our waitress was really nice and kept coming by to take random pics of us.

So life couldn't be better right now. We are super excited and looking forward to the big day! More on that to come ofcourse. Right now I just want my fiancee to come home from her business trip to Toronto.

I'm so looking forward to all of our new firsts babe. I love you so much and am so excited for this new chapter of our lives together to start! You have done so much to help me grow as a person and turn me into a better man, I love you so much!

Early Bday Celebration

Last weekend Terri took me out for a little pre bday celebration. We went to a really rad dinner put on by Souper Jenny and her Underground Dinner Club. Terri sent in a E-mail a couple months ago to Souper Jenny to get invited to one of her exclusive dinner clubs. These dinners are by invite only and only 20 - 30 people get to go for each party. Just so happens that she got the invite to one right before my bday!

The location of the dinner was the Oakland Cemetary and the suprise chef was Richard Blais of Top Chef and Iron Chef fame. He is also the Creative Director at Flip Burger Boutique here in Atlanta. So the dinner was in a great pre hallowenn location and the chef is one of my favorites. To top it off we are "Required" to where black.....I think I have that covered.

Check out the pics below of the courses menu and what not. Again the dinner was super fun and REALLY good. Despite the 30 - 40 degree weather, we ate outside, Terri and I loved it. Thanks Cook, I couldnt have asked for more!!!!

Why I Love Direct TV

For those of you that dont know Terri and I decided to cancel our comcast cable the other week. We got sick of paying alot for crap service, crap reception and a crap cable box that kept going out of service.

So we decided to trade it in for the dish. We got one of the basic Direct TV packages and added the NFL ticket. So I get to watch every NFL game in all its glory every week. That reason itself is more than enough for any guy in his right mind to love his new cable service.

But wait...there's more. The glorious antenna on our roof gives us much more in the way of sporting events. For instance I am currently flipping back an forth between 3 Hockey games and 3 College Football games. And if I liked Basketball I could be watching two NBA preseason games, but I dont. And just for good measure there are 3 College Football games and 2 Hockey games that will strt within the hour.......that said why am I on the computer........later!

Football Is Back!!!!

Well my friends.....Football is back! The College Football season opened up this week. As usual there were highs and lows for me as a College Football Fan.

The lows had to be my Ducks losing on Thursday to Boise State on the infamous Blue Turf and my Terps also lost in disturbing fashions to Cal. What made the Oregon lose even worse was the fact that one of the running backs, LeGarrette Blount, sucker punched one of Boise States players at the end of the game. Not very sportsman like. And the Maryland lose was pretty much embarrassing, 52 - 13......

Despite the loses of my favorite teams something else happened that made it all better.....That being Oklahoma losing to BYU. I really dont like Oklahoma, and pretty much never have. And them losing to a Non-BCS team made it all better. Despite the fact that I do not like Oklahoma I do feel bad for Sam Bradford was injured. I do realize that the injury was a big factor in the lose, but you cant take that away from BYU. As it may it's still as lose. This week 1 lose and a very tough Big 12 schedule hopefully means that they will not be in the National Championship picture come December.

Looking forward to a good season. Just a couple more weeks till NFL, Terri and I just got the NFL Season Ticket.....So it will be even better! I can now watch my Skins every week!

Just got done eatin dinner. Im Hans Solo tonight so was pretty much just cookin whatever. I decided to go with Black Beans tonight. Took the beans and mashed them up some and added lemon zest, lemon juice, cilantro, dried blueberries, bread crumbs and egg white. Made the mixture into small patties and cooked each side to a crisp in some oil on the stove top. Then crumbled the patties up and put it on a tortilla with some green chilles and taco sauce. Good stuff........

Its been awile since I've posted anything about sports. So I figured this is as good of a chance as any. All I rally got for you is Good News.....and Bad News....

GOOD NEWS:

On Sunday my favorite Nascar driver Brian Vickers drove the number 83 Red Bull Racing Car into Victory Lane! This was Brian's second career victory and the first for Red Bull Racings Nascar Team. Well technically he didnt drive into victory lane.....He actualy ran out of gas after the race as he was driving to victory lane. The last few laps were nail bitters. Not only was Brian running out of gas, but several other drivers were as well. I wasnt sure he was going to have enough gas to make it. But sure enough he did. Way to go Brian!

I decided to wipe the dust off the old blog today. The last month has been pretty busy with work, my parent visiting and Terri's sisters visiting. Im pretty much taking this weekend to do as little as possible.

When my parents came down we hit up the Aquarium, Botanical Gardens, and Cyclorama and should them some cool dinning spots in the city. We really had a good time. It was also great for Terri to finally meet them.

The next weekend Terri's sisters came into town. On Friday they went on a shopping bonanza. On Saturday we hung out all day and went to the Braves game in the afternoon. We had a lot of fun. I really enjoyed meeting Terri's sisters. They were a blast!

Relaxing Start To The Weekend

Terri an I decided to stay home over the 4th extended weekend to save some cash. But still tried to enjoy it as much as possible! Our Thursday started off by going to Marietta to play some golf, see Terri's Blog. After golf we hit up the Farmers Market to stock up on some groceries. After that we decided to use the new grill and make some pizza! We were going to make the dough......But didnt have the time or a bread machine. So we bought some premade crusts. We made our own sweet and zesty pizza sauce. Terri put basil and tomato on hers. And I had Hamburger and BACON! Using the grill to cook the pizza was alot of fun and added to the taste. After cooking the pies up we enjoyed our meal with some brews and UNO!

The past two weeks have been full of some good times for Terri and I. Last Friday we celebrated Terri's birthday. We decided to keep it chill and go out to a nice dinner and enjoy each others company. So I took her to Restaurant Eugene. Instead of ordering of the menu we decided on a seven course dinner with wine pairing. IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!! We both agreed that it was one of the top meals that we have had. Then we celebrated one year toghether last night at Zuma Sushi. If you like sush give it a try, we loved it! Very tastful and generous portion sizes. And to top it off we are going to IMAX this weekend to see....you guessed it.....TRANSFORMERS!!!!!

Well nothing.....But it's been a while since I posted anything so figured I should.

May was a really tiring month for me and am so glad that it is done. As per the usually I worked myself sick with both of the groups I had this month. Which I must say is getting old.

Been working on getting Magnus's new digs all set up as well. Ben adding some plants (fake) and some trees (fake). Also got my heating problem for the tank solved. I ended up bying a heat panel and fastend it to the top of the cage

Neither of teams made it to the Stanley Cup. And I hate the Red Wings and eally dislike the Penguins....So the Stanley Cup does not really matter that much to me this year. Muh like last year since it is a rematch.

Lots of good stuff has been going on in the wide world of sports the past few weeks. Atleast for teams and sports that I follow. Hopefully that will be a trend of things to come.

Lets start with some good ole auto racing. Team Red Bull Has had two good weeks in a row with their Formula One Racing Team. Last week Sebastian Vettel won Team Red Bulls first F1 race at the Grand Prix of China. He followed it up this past weekend with a 2nd place finish at the Grad Prix of Bahrain. Sadly I missed last weeks victory. But saw race ths past weekend, which was pretty exciting. This weekend the Nascar Red Bul team also had a good showing t a crazy race at Talledage Raceway. Both Scott Speed and Brian Vickers finised 5th and 8th respectivly. This was one f the better races I have seen in a while, lots of crashes and excitment. Hopefully both teams can keep it up the rest of the year.

The playoffs started the other week for the NHL. My Canucks got off to a really good start by sweeping the Blues in convincing fashion in the first round. Next up.....The Chicago Blackhawks. The Blackhawks are looking pretty good this year with a powerfull offense. Luckily the Canucks have good defense and one of the top goalies in the NHL. My home team, Washington Capitals, came back from being down 3 games to 1 to beat the Rangers last night in game seven. Next up for them is are the Penguins. This shold be a tough, hard hitting and star studded series with between two teams with a rivialry going back to the old days of the Patrick Division days.

The playoffs also started for the NBA. But I dont really care about that.....

And to top it off the NFL draft was this past weekend. My Redskins didn't trade up to get Mark Sanchez like alot of people thought they might. But they did get the guy they had there eyes on....Brian Orakpo out of Texas. Orakpo was a Defensive End at Texas, but might play as a Linebacker in Washington. ither way hopefully he will be able to contribute to a alredystrong defese that also added one of the top free agents over the offseason, Albert Haynesworth.

New Home For Magnus

So I finally got Magnus's new cage last Friday. It took freakin forever to get it. I placed the order for it back in JUNE! But I finally got it, granted the order was not fully correct, but thats another story. I got him all set up yesterday and he seems to really like it. As you can see he has PLENTY of space to move around. Im probably going to get him some more sticks to climb arond on soon. Once he got settled and went exploring he went back to his favorite spot, his water bowl (Kitty Litter Box).

Terri and I went out on Tuesday night to celebrate nine great months together at a nice little place in Inman Park called Parks Edge. We shared a ceviche like tuna and avacado appetizer as well as a smoked and spicey ceasar salad to start with. Both were great. We almost didnt order the Tuna app, glad we did, great flavors! For out our entrees Terri had Grilled Filet and I had a Spicey Sea Bass Filet. Like the appetizers both were great, we couldnt get enough. We finished it of with a Chocolate Molten Lava Cake. Yummy chocolaty goodness! After our meal we went to the bar and got to meet and chat with the head chef and the owner. Both were really cool and down to earth. The restarant was great and the company was even better! Check this place out if you have a chance.

Terri and I got back from our trip to Cancun late last night. We

had an absolute blast. As can be expected we didn't want to come home. We got up early Tuesday morning to drop off Trip and head to the airport. Our flight went out on time and were at our hotel by 11am on Tuesday. Our room wasnt ready yet so we headed to the bar, which was attached to the pool and right on the beach, and met our friendly bartenders for the week Louis and Gazpar. To the right you will see a pic of ourt hotel. We had a ocean view room so we woke up and went to sleep to the ocean every day! One of our favorite activities during the trip was snorkeling. We went 3 times during our stay. On Wednesday and Friday we walked over to Club Med, which was next to our hotel. for two of the snorkling adventures. They have reefs off of one of the sides of their resort. Its reserved for guest only so they have security on the look out for trespassers. But Terri and I were able to sneak over undetected each time. We saw alot of cool fish during our two dives there. The highlight was seeing a group of three large Parrot Fish on Friday. One of them was pretty big, maybe 3 - 4 feet. The midle one was probably 2.5 - 3 feet and the third was probably 2 feet. They were really colorful and let me get pretty close to them. We didnt have a water proof camera so I couldnt take any pics. But I was able to find a pic, to the right, on the information highway that looked kind of like the large on we saw. On Thursday we spent the day at Isla Mujeres, or the Island of Women as it I translated, for a day of snorkeling, exploring, a great lunch, driving a golf cart and holding a Shark. Thats right we held a shark, Nurse Shark. The little resort we went to for snorkling had some cool scenery and iguanas that were all over the resort. I wanted to try to catch one to play with. But didnt want to upset the wildlife, after all it is there turf. Then I would be the stupid tourist messing with the animals and ausing a scene. I was able to get some cool pics though to remind me of the little guys. There was one large one that we saw a couple times. He was pretty laid back until you got to 2 or 3 feet away from him, then we would run off. Leading up to the trip we were hoping to eat some really good food while we were down there. Our best meal by far was lunch on the Island of Women. Our dinner the fisrt night was pretty good aswell. One thing we were pretty happy about trying was a road side taco stand that a lady ran out of the back of her van. The tacos were great! And cheap! We got 5 tacos on Thursdy and Friday moring for $2.50 USD. We took a ton of pics. But didnt want to hog all of the pics and stories. I know Im a week late but between a busted computer and vacation I have gotten to post about the Prom Party.......So here we go! Last Saturday we had our 2009 80's Prom Party. We had a great shwoing for it! Lots of laughs, great outfits, 80's music and some good old beer pong! We had a excellent spread of little debbie's finest, which got pretty much cleaned out! Circus de Soleil

Last night Terri, her parents and myself went to check out the Cirucs de Soleil act in Atantic Station. It was freakin awesome! That was the frist time I had seen any of the Kooza acts and enjoyed every moment of it. It was actually the first time I had been to any circus since I saw The Ringling Brothers as a wee lil guy. This was no Ringling Brothers though. Lots of cool stuff like crazy tight rope walkers, a duo dancing with one unicycle, a dude balancing and making a chair tower that was prob 30 feet high, some cool contortionists and many others.

My favorite act by far was "The Wheel of Death". There were two dudes that were in this act. Each had there own hamster like wheel. The wheels were on either side of a long steel arm. They basically made this thing go round and round, vertically, in doing so they got major air inside the wheel and outside of the wheels by jumping around as the apparatus spin around. I was pretty freakin rad. My uncanny nack for bad descriptions does this act no justice. I had a great time, many thanks to Terri and her parents!

Vday At The Aquarium

This past weekend Terri and I got to spend our first Valentines together, and we had a blast! We started off by going to one of my favorite spots, the Georgia Aquarium! Terri know's how much I love that place so she got a hook up on a behind the scenes tour. Well done Cook!

We started off with Lunch and took a look at some of the different exhibits. Then headed off on our tour.! It started off on some behind the scenes areas and offices. Then headed over to the Ocean Voyeger Exhibit. Which was totally cool, we got to see the Whale Sharks up close and personal via the catwalk that goes over the tank. Then we headed over to see Terri's favorite, the Buluga Whales. We didnt get to stand over the water at this exhibit but still got a good view of them and their surroundings. After that we got to go over the Coral Reef Tank and got to see something that not everyone else gets to see. Off of the coral Reef Tank is a area that houses a bunch of Zebra Shark babys. They were really cool, were so close we could almost reach out and touch them! then we got to see another holding area that had some baby Rays, Zebra Fish and some one of my favorite sharks, the Wobbegong Shark. Unfortunetly I couldn't get any good pics of them. Then we headed out!

On Saturday night Terri and I went to the Biltmore for Aaron and Megan's Wedding. The Ceremony and Wedding was great. We had a great time and enjoyed getting to see the beginning of Aaron and Megan's lives together. Man vs Food

Lately I have been watching the travel channel ALOT! One of my favorite shows airing on this channel is Man vs Food. It's pretty similar to Dinners, Drive Ins and Dives on the Food Network, another great show. In M v F Adam goes to a different city each episode and visits three popular restaurants. One of the restaurants has a food challenge on the menu. In one of the episodes they visited Atlanta. The first two spots were two Atlanta Favorites.....The Vortex (Little 5) and Gladys Knights Chicken and Waffles. The 3rd spot, challenge location, was Big Pie In The Sky in Kennesaw which is home to the Carnivore Pizza. Adam had to team up with a partner to eat this massive 11 Pound Pizza. Yes...11 pounds. I couldn't believe how big it was. the results...they couldn't tame the beast. Some other challenges on the show were a 72 oz Steak and a 4 lb Cheeseburger. Below was the best pic I could find of the Pizza Challenge. Since the pic is more centered on Adam and the M v F Cheerleaders you cant really see the full size of it, but you get the idea.

So today Terri and I tried out a little place I've been wanting to try for a while. The name of the place is George's which is located in the Virginia Highlands. Its been around since 1961 and looks pretty similair to how it probably looked when it opened. Since I'm actually taking the time to blog about it your probably wondering if it was really good or if it really sucked......It was GREAT! The place is voted the Best Burger and Best Lunch Spot in Atlanta, by Atlanta City Seach, and it lived up to it. Its simple food done well. I had a Bacon and Swiss Burger with Fries and Terri had Chicken Tenders with Fries. It was really good. If your around the Highlands and want some good food at a great price check it out.

Vacation Time

So its all set......My first out of the country trip. Terri and I are goin to Cancun in March! We got our flights and hotel booked, now all we need is for the time to pass. I am really looking forward to sharing this experience with Terri. I know we are goin to have a blast! We are looking into some things to do still. Snorkeling, and seeing a bull fight are on the top of the list right now. I cant wait babe!

Hockey Time

Before the NHL Season started I took a look at the Thrasers schedule to see if they were playing my team, the Vancouver Canucks, as I looked down the schedule sure enough I see the Ole Canucks are on it! Even better, the game is in Atlanta and to top it off its on the Friday after New Years! Terri being the kickass girlfriend she is scoops up some tickets, 5 rows up center ice I add. We had a great time and saw a really good game. The game went into overtime, then shootouts and then sudden death shootouts. In the end the Canucks lost. But I still had a great time. Thanks Terri!!!!

Happy Late New Year

Hapy New Year People! Well its another year down and another one started. Every New Year many people take a look at what they did, didnt do and what they want to do in the New Year.

At the start of 2008 I made 3 goals for myself or resolutions if you will...1) Be Happy 2) Save Some Money and 3) Eat Healthy and Workout. I feel confident to say that I was able to meet all of these goals. I certainly had times throughout the year that I was not demonstrating or acheiving these goals. I even questioned if I would make some of them at times. But, its a full year......what can you expect. Luckily I have some back up that have made me meet these goals and will help me not to forget them them in 09....Loving Family, Great Friends, A Job, Drive, Determination and a Rockstar Girlfriend.

So what are my goals or resolutions for 09? Well the 3 from last year are pretty important. So Im going to continue to keep those in my life. But I need to add to that to try and continue to better myself.....

1) Do some traveling. I just have not done it. Im the guy with no input when people talk about different travel or vacation spots. Then hear all the ...you should go there, why dont you go or you have never been there?! I think its time for me to to experience some different surroundings and experience more of the world.

2) Think about others more. Just dosent seem right that when goals are thought of, put into action and made thats it is mostly about ones self. I mean we are all in this world together right? Im going to try to do more volunteer work and put myself in other peoples shoes more. The past 2 years I have done some form of volunteer / charity work 3 times a year about. Hopefully I can improve on that number and in the process pull others into it at the same time.

I feel pretty good using those as my goals or resolutions in 2009. The 3 carry overs are now part of my mind set and adding 2 more to it can only make things better!

Whats up People!? Sorry for the absence of blogging. Decemeber has just kind of flown by and blogging was the last thing on my mind...It was a good month though with the holidays and time off.

Terri and I got to have our first Christmas together. We were going to separate destinations for Christmas day itself. So we had our Christmas the Monday before. We had some great wine and a kickass meal of Bacon Wrapped Scallops with a Spicey Mayo Dipping Sacue, Grilled Lamb Chops with a Horseradish, Mustard and Mint Glaze and some Risotto with some aged Balsamic. Yea....We are rockstars in the kitchen! Then shared some gifts and got crunk!

I then got to see my family for Christmas. It had been quite sometime since the Browns had all been together under one roof. It was great seeing everyone and just hanging out. Mom as usual made some great grub for us. And we had no problem devourin it! I wish that we had more time together though. Luv u guys!!!!

December also brought the end of the regular season of the NFL, tear. Which meant that Fantasy Football ended for another year. So my stress and yelling levels on Sundays will lower considerable. I know have to wait another year to say "ESTABLISH THE RUN!!!!" The results.....The Men of Brown (My team) ended up pulling a big choke job. After putting up some crazy numbers my team went from the 1st seed in the playoffs to finishing 4th. The Grundle Punchers (Mac's Team) won Chapionship this year, congrats Mac! And more importantly......Kelly finished in last which meant that he had to dress up like a cowboy for one night. Kelly sucked it up and was a great sport, well done buddy!

Today for lunch Terri and I decided to have a little Iron Chef dual in the kitchen. The secret ingredient........CRAB! It was pretty fun. We whipped up some ideas pretty quick. A couple weeks ago I got a membership to the Martin Luther King Natatorium. The membership for a year is only $90.00 total, steal! It gives you access to the pool and gym. I don't use the gym though since I use the one at work, free. So I obviously got the membership for just the pool. I must say it feels good to swim again. I am pretty tanked afterwards though. I still have the general technique, like riding a bike. Just need to get my endurance and speed back. That will take a little while. Now I'm not doing this to get on a team & be competitive again or to be like the big lurch (Michael Phelps). It's just adding another part to my workout route. We will see if this actually lasts though. That's about it, I'm off to day and super stoked about it!

Gas Shortage

As some of you may or may not know there is a shortage of gas in Atlanta. I think maybe even through out the south. This has been going on for a week or two know, I think? Regardless though it sucks. People are running out of gas, lines are crazy long, fight at the pump, high gas prices, ETC.

Thankfully I moved close to the city a couple months ago and my work, most of my friends and most of the places I go are pretty much in a 5 - 10 mile radius. Which means that my use of gas is much lower than it used to be.

So I have a half a tank but decided to be on the safe side i should get some gas today or tomorrow. After I got done with my run this morning Terri sent me a text that one of the gas stations down the room has gas. This is important because most gas stations do not have any gas. I actually saw about 12 gas stations yesterday that didn't have gas. So I headed over to the gas station and waited in line for 20 minutes to pay to $20.00 cash limit at this station for gas.
Im at 3/4 a tank know and hope that will last me 2 weeks.

Well it's been awhile since my last post. Nothing much is going on with me right now. Been working ALOT!

Since my move I have found a new love....Whole Foods! I dont recall ever shopping at one before. But have made numerous stops to the one on Ponce, which is almost next door to me! That place rocks. They make Pizza, have great dessert, good selection of meats, the list goes on and one.

Im glad that it's finally football season. JB, Mac and myself are going to spend the entire day Saturday Eating, Drinking and Watchin Football. Hoping that we can catch the Ducks game at 3:30 and see them trounce Purdue. Then the big one...USC vs OSU. Should be fun!

My Fantasy team is also off to a great start. Got a W in week one and all of my guys put up some numbers. Although I think I think a big reason I won was that Tom Brady was injured which messed up Rye Rye's team. O well, a win is a win.

The other weekend had a wine dinner part a Terri's. Drank ALOT of wine and had a blast. Still trying to figure out why I was not hung over.......Below is a pic of us acting stupid!

Moving Day!

Well it's official......I've moved out of Smyrna! On Saturday I moved my things out of my small studio at Post Spring in Smyrna. I spent three good years in my little studio. But it was time to get the hell out of Smyrna. I'm now living in the Virginia Highlands in a nice two bedroom apartment with my buddy Mac. I'm really looking forward to having a much shorter drive to work.

So last night was officially the start to the 2008 -2009 NFL Season with the Hall of Fame Game Preseason Opener. And what better way to start it off then by having the Washington Redskins paly in the game. Their opponent, the Indianapolis Colts. I was super stoked to watch the game and see what kind of talent we might have making the team this year. Unfortunetly since I have worked two weeks straight and am tired as hell I went to sleep soon after the first quarter, lame...I know.

First thing I did Monday morning was check ESPN.Com to see who won and to see if one particular Redskin's player played, and if so how well he did. The player was rookie quarterback Colt Brennan, formerly known as The University of Colt Brennan, now known as The District of Colt Brennan. I was very pleased to see that he put together quite a game (9/10, 123 yds, 2 tds). Not sure if there will be any contreversy in the distrcit anytime soon though because starter Jason "Chunky Soup" Campbell had a pretty good game himself in limited action (5/5, 61 yds, 1 td).

More importantly the Redskins won. Granted it is preseason and mostly backups played the whole game for both teams and Peyton Manning didn't event play. But a win is a win to any fan!

Last night I rolled to the Braves game with Kelly, Drew, Rachel, Ashley, Amber and Em. We had a blast! Started started in our seats (which were great), Amber and Em got on the Jumbotron, chilled for a while, then headed up to the 755 Club when it looked like a storm was coming (which it didn't). Best line of the night came from our server that was over seeing our field seats.

So the past two weeks have been pretty stressful for me. Luckily my stress level will be down for about 2 or 3 weeks till it goes back up again. Having a 4-day weekend certainly helps things.

On Saturday I got my sleeve finished, finally. It's still red and tender, look for some pics in a couple of weeks when it is healed.

Saw Iron Man last night with Emily. Man that movie was awesome. When I first saw the previews I was kind of skeptical. First reason was because I never got into the Iron Man comics and secondly because Robert Downey Jr. was playing Iron Man. I ended up leaving the theater wanting to see the movie again. I see a DVD purchase in the near future.

That's all I got for now. It's Tuesday, still off of work. Em and I plan on doing absolutely nothing today except avoiding the sun.

As some of you know the NFL Draft was this past weekend. Following the Draft Football fans across America are generally very happy, upset or on the fence with what their team did. Then there is the talk about which of the top 10 picks will actually be star players, who the late round gem might be and the trades.

As a Redskins fan the Pre-Draft talk certainly peaked my interests. What talk you say? The possibility of the Skins trading for Cinco-Ocho....Other wise known as the talented but overly chatty Bengal’s Wide Receiver Chad Johnson. This trade of course did not happen, which in my opinion is a good thing.

So that left the Redskins needing to go the route of the Draft to fulfill their Wide Receiver needs. They ended up picking up two of the top rated receivers in the draft, Devin Thomas out of Michigan State and Malcolm Kelly out of Oklahoma State. They also made some picks to help out their Secondary. But they had one pick that will forever change the history of clipboards in our Nations Capital....Yes my friends....I’m talking about The University of Colt Brennan!

Now I know what some of you are thinking…..Colt Brennan…..Isn’t he the guy that died is hair to look like the island of Hawaii? Yes it is. Now don’t get me wrong but I would love to see The U of C.B. be the future of the Redskins and lead them to the Big Game. But lets face it….The only thing in his future is clipboards and head set.

Now this is where some would argue with the numbers he put up in college. No need to….I’m aware that he passed for 14,193 Yards and 131 Touchdowns in 3 years. But he also played for the University of Hawaii in the WAC Division. There is nothing wrong with either of these, but he put those stats up against teams like Charleston State, Idaho and Double Directional Schools. He also made a lot of people question his potential ability to play with talent on next level based upon his performance against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl this past year. I’m not trying to put down his career, because without a doubt he had a great college career. But Andre Ware, David Klingler, Ty Detmer and Kliff Klingsbury also had great college careers. Who? Exactly!

My plea……Turn this small school big numbers theme around Colt. Die your hair to look like the District of Columbia and take the Redskins to the Super Bowl!

NHL Playoffs

As some of you know the NHL Playoffs second round has kicked off, which is cool. It would have been alot cooler if the Caps were able to beat the Flyers. What makes it suck even more was...that it was the F'n Flyers! As a Caps fan it's in your blood to hate the Flyers. But at the same time the Caps had a great season and show alot of promise for next year.

So since the Caps are out and the Canucks didn't even make the playoffs Im going to be cheering for the Canadians and hope they can pull it off. That's right, Go Canada!

What's going on boys and girls! So today I was tooling away on the old information highway and found an article that totally annoyed me. Granted I understand that it is a typical AOL Article and the subject is by no means ground shaking. But it is the type of article / subject that annoys me.

The article was "Do You Own An Unusual Pet." The results were F*^%'n typical. Snakes numero uno. Now I totally understand that there are a lot of people out there that think that snakes are weird, evil, slimy and dangerous. Im also sure that these poeple have little to no knowledge of snakes.

I then realized after going through this stupid list that either myself or someone in my immediate family has owned or currently has 5 of these 10 pets (Snakes, Turtles, Guinea Pig, Rabbits and Tarantula). And I have come very close to getting 2 of the others (Scorpion & Bearded Dragon).

Clearly my family and I like "unusual pets." I however like to think that we are just original. Mom, Dad, Matt & Todd.....this is one of the many reasons I love you guys so much!

Well its that crazy time of the year again. Prior to the 7 & 9 PM games yesterday my bracket was looking very good. Then it kind of fell apart. I had a feeling that was coming though. For some reason year after year I always do bad on day 2 of the first round. The Siena win messed me up the most cause I had Vandy going to the Elie 8. But Im still in pretty good shape and on top of the pool I'm in after the first round. And if your curious like most of the country I picked UNC to win it all, and have Wisconsin, UCLA and Pittsburgh joining them in the Final Four.

This weekend I continued to get work done on my Japaneses Inspired Dragon Sleeve by Tim Orth. We are pretty close to completion. Still have one session to go till completion. This is my initiation into the world of tattoos. The artist is Tim Victim. It took about 3 hours or so. Location is my right rib. It's based off of a sarcophagus cover from the movie underworld. The "R" is for my Dad, Ron. The basic meaning is everlasting love for my pop's.

So a couple of weeks ago one of my co-workers introduced me to this energy drink called Zipfizz. I figured that I would give it a try. It's pretty similar to most powered add to water energy drinks. This stuff is pretty good though. It's caffeine free and very tasty. Comes in a variety of flavors. It's loaded with vitamins and all that good stuff. Plus it literally fizzes up! I have one every morning and afternoon and feel energized and refreshed after having one. You can find Zipfizz at Costco, Rite Aid and Target. Give it a whirl!

This year I decided to make Three New Years resolutions. These resolutions are typical, simple and attainable. I have been doing a pretty good job at keeping up with all three, good thing. My next three weeks and point of this posting will focus on one of them. That being the ever so popular going to the gym / being health resolution.

So I deciding to try and lose some of the layer of fat covering my abs. Unfortunately completely losing this layer is one of the hardest parts of the whole keeping in shape thing, especially when there is not a lot to lose. So here is the plan….

*Big Meals IE Bfast, Lunch and Dinner

-What’s aloud…Oatmeal, Cereal (Granola) & Salad

-What’s not aloud…Everything else

-Special Rule…(2) Meals a week where I can eat whatever I want

*Snacks

-What’s aloud…Cheese, Fruit & Jello

-Special Rule…Salsa and Chips once a week

*Kicker

-Beer…Over the past 3 weeks I have slowly lessened my consumption of Green Bottled Beverages IE Beer. I have decided that during this period I will step down as my role of Drunktown and completely discontinue Green Bottle consumption. And yes the world is still rotating on it’s axis.

-Liquor…Although I am stepping down as mayor of Drunktown I still have to have some interaction with my people. So I will partake in consumption of Vodka one time a week.

-Sunday March 2nd @ 6:00 PM for 3 weeks.

*Achievable

-Certainly. It’s not like it’s some crazy over the top diet. I know how my body works and what I can burn well and not burn well. I think if I am able to keep it up I will see results. During this time I will of course continue going to the gym and what not. So let the games begin!

Im pretty convinced that the Discovery Channel has two of the best shows on TV currently. Jonathon and I watched these shows a couple of weeks back and I cant get enough of them now. These shows are Man vs Wild and Fight Quest.

Man vs Wild - This show is about this insane F*&^ named Bear who tries to teach viewers how to survive the outdoors. The kicker is that unless you are completely crazy and / or insane his advice will not be useful what so ever. Check out the video below about things to eat while caught out in the wild. Look out for the fish 48 seconds in....F'n CRAZY!!!

Fight Quest - This show is about two fighters named Doug and Jimmy. Doug and Jimmy travel the world to learn various fighting styles from around the globe. But Im not sure if it is more of a learning experience or simply two guys to get the S^&* kicked out of them. Any case Doug and Jimmy are two bad A$$ fighters that are getting a chance to experience something most fighters do not. Check out the video below for a look at the last episode in Israel and a couple of clips from other episodes. Look out for the Mortal Kombat Liu Kang kick 12 seconds in. Again F'n CRAZY!!!

What's crackin' peoples. I picked up a new album a couple weeks ago that is continuing to move it's way up my fav list. The name of the band is For The Fallen Dreams and the name of the album is Changes. This is the first full length album for these 5 hard hittin dudes from Michigan. The vocals and voice of FTFD front man Chad Ruhlig kind of reminds me of Myke Terry from Bury Your Dead. One could possibly even argue that the overall sound is similar as well. All in all Changes is a pretty solid album. Musically I think that each song flows very well, especially for a metal band. Well today is Super Bowl Sunday obviously I'm stoked to see what will hopefully be a good game. But at the same time it sucks. Why? Reason One.....Football season will be over after today (Pro Bowl doesn't count). Reason Two.....My Redskins are not playing.

But it is still somewhat a good weekend for Skins fans. Why? This weekend the announcement of the 2008 Hall of Fame Class was made and two of them were Redskins. Long time greats Art Monk and Darrell Green got their tickets to Canton.

Monk was a go to receiver that highly contributed to the Redskins winning 3 Super Bowls during his time in the Nations Capital. In 1992 Monk became the then NFL All Time Receptions leader with 820 catches.

Green was shutdown corner back that was also a key contributor the Redskins stored history and was part of 2 Super Bowl winning Redskin Teams. Green had a interception in a record 19 straight seasons.

Both of these players will always be remembered as some of the greats to all Redskins fans. Thank you so much for your contributions and congratulations!

The reasoning…..A friend and former co-workers transfer to the Hyatt in Wichita to be the new Director of Sales. Congrats Aaron we will miss you! We partied it up all night in celebration of Aaron. As you can imagine the night was full of debauchery and good times.

SODA!!!!!

On Saturday Amanda, Jonathon, Mac and myself spent the day at SODA Land!!! AKA The New World of Coke. It sounds kind of touristy and what not but we had a blast. We pretty much spent the entire time laughing. The highlight of the field trip was trying out the various types of soda from various parts of the world. In particularly a soda from Italy called “The Beverly.” Im not sure what S*^% actually tastes like…But Im sure that it is something like the after taste of “The Beverly.” After we all tasted it we decided to lurk around the tasting area of “The Beverly” to watch reactions of people drinking this rank soda and then laugh at them. We even had some followers at times to join in on the laughs. Yes I know…..We are a great collection of human beings.

So I got my car back today from a 4 day visit to the shop. Im not going to go into the details of the reasoning behind the visit to the Car Doctor. I will however leave you with a simple math equations to ponder:

(I Can't Drive + Curb) / I'm A Idiot = Busted Car

SNOW!!!!!!!

That’s right people…..We got snow in the dirty dirty! On Saturday it snowed a good chunk of the day. Granted it was not anything crazy if you live or have lived in areas where it snows with any consistency. But for ATL this was a pretty big deal. I was pretty excited myself considering I have not seen any “Winter Weather” first hand since my first winter in ATL, 3 winters ago.

I went out to drop my car off at the shop and pick up a rental and the roads where pretty empty. I then proceeded to go to the grocery to pick up some Green Light and munchies. I walked into mass pandemonium! It was pretty funny. When I was driving home Channel 2 Action News was even posted up on the side of the road covering the "Snow Story."

And of course all of the snow is mostly melted today. But at least everyone in ATL has enough bread, eggs, milk and what not to last them 3 weeks.

Does anyone else find Wendy's dude wearing a red wig commercials / marketing piece kind of creepy? I mean when they first came out they were kind of funny. But I think it is about time to let go and move on. None the less my devotion to Dave Thomas and his delightful square never frozen hamburger patties has not changed. I still pay the drive through a visit at least two times a week. Think about it and let the ketchupy goodness sink in.....

What up people! Here is a lil music review for those of you Metalheads looking for some good tunes.

Album - A good album to go out and pick up is Angel Maker by Burn in Silence. This is the first full length album for these 5 hard hittin dudes from Boston. This album spits out 4 sold singles (Lines from an Epitaph, Primal Human Pain, Angel Maker & Watching Dead Leaves Fall). The remaining 6 songs are pretty good to. The combination of hard hitting vocals, awesome guitar riffs and keyboards really work well for this band. Check out the video for Lines from an Epitaph by clicking here. mmmmm spaghetti?

Single - Killtank / Leverage by Bleed The Sky. This song F&*%'N Kicks A%$. It goes from having a calm chill melody. And then they drop the hammer and rock out. The rest of the album isn't to shabby either. The only weird thing about this song is that some website label this song Leverage and some label it Killtank.....Click here and press the green play button to check it out.

Overall these bans get a thumbs up from the Brownman. Show these bands some love and check em out. Later!

New Toy

For Christmas this year my rents hooked me up with my first iPod, thanks mom and dad! And I have no idea how I survived musically with out one. Im really surprised that I had not gotten one of these before with the number of CD’s that I have and how much I love to listen to music. This thing is pretty much the coolest thing ever made. Well except for Green Light, but don’t get me started. I mean I can now listen to what I want, when I want. Im just stoked that I don’t have to carry around a big ass CD cases anymore to find what I want to listen to…..now I just carry around this lil guy!

Looks like I’m late again…..Happy New Year People! Hmmm what to say about 2007. Not really sure on where to go with that one. It certainly was a year full of its ups, downs and lessons learned. But I guess that happens with every year. Not really sure what 2008 holds for me. I know what I want to happen. It’s just a matter of if it will. New Years Resolution. I decide to take three simple things and combine them to make my resolution. The three being….Better Manage My Funds, Continue Going To The Gym and To Be Happy. That’s about it…..Bring it on 2008!

MAGNUS!

This is a formal introduction to those of you that have not met or seen my roommate, good friend and pet Magnus.

Magnus is a Jungle Carpet Python. In the wild Jungle Carpet Pythons can be found in the Rain Forests of the Atherton Tablelands located in Northeastern Queensland, Australia. Jungle Carpet Pythons typically range from 4.5 - 7 ft in length. The Jungle Carpet Python is a subspecies of the Carpet Python.

I have had Magnus for about 2 years now. He is 5ft long and likely will not get any longer. The name Magnus came from a character in Anne Rice’s book series The Vampire Chronicles. Magnus enjoys hanging out in his water bowl, hanging out on his tree, eating unknowing rodents and long slithers on the beach. Magnus hates vacuum cleaners and Tennessee Volunteer Fans. Just incase you are wondering…….He is note Venomous or Slimy. I think I get asked that question by 8 out of every 10 people that find out that I have a snake. And I am happy to give these people a little general knowledge about snakes and how they really are. Snakes I feel get a bad rap by most people for one reason.....lack of knowledge. And of course movies like Anaconda and Boa vs Python.

Some of you are probably wondering why have a snake or how can a snake be a good pet or companion. The answer is simple…….Snakes are F*%$’N bad ass. Plus I love reptiles and having them makes me happy. And in life thats really all that counts, being happy. Below are some pics of the lil guy. Enjoy!!!!!

Today at 2:00 PM is one of the best bowl games ever. It is a game that I look forward to seeing every year regardless of who is playing. The Bowl Game is the Humanitarian Bowl which is played at Bronco Stadium in Boise, Idaho every year. For those of you that are College Football Buffs you know where I am going with this. For those of you that are not the answer to your question of why is this the best bowl game has two simple words........Blue Turf!!!!

This is a very belated Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!!! I hope everyone was able to enjoy the holidays. I ended up staying in the ATL for the holidays cause I had some work that needed to be done. I was lucky enough though to spend my Christmas morning thanking some very important people with some of my co-workers. Who are these people.....We delivered Christmas Lunch / Dinner to 8 of the Atlanta Area Fire Departments for the Fire Fighters that had to work on Christmas. It was nice to give something back to these individuals and thank them in person for all that they do. All the firefighters we meet were pretty stoked about getting a nice Christmas Meal and some thankful visitors, so that was pretty cool. Below is a pic of one of the Stations we visited.

As most people know I have always hated the Florida Gators. That has some how changed for me this year. Jonathon and I were forced to cheer for the Gators earlier in the year against Tennessee. We hated both teams we decided to cheer for Florida.

Over the course of the game Jonathon and I decided to incorporate one of the all time best nick names for Tim Tebow.....you guessed it.......T-Bone. The T-Bone chants came all night and were followed by the "T" sign, punching the middle of your forearm to form a T, I know.....we are brilliant. Ever since Jonathon and I have been makin T's & cheering for Florida.

T-Bone put the exclamation point on a great season by winning the Heisman on Saturday night. Ofcourse I did the T sign all night. The results was a very sore forearm from punching it all night and yes a hang over.

In other news Colt Brennan aka The University of Colt Brennan, the second best nick name ever(see above for the first), came in third in the Heisman voting. The highest finish for a non BCS school during the BSC era. I just love to see the non BCS schools do good. Especially since I hate the F*%$'n BCS!

Ruffled Feathers

Another end of the year losing streak for Quack nation......So sad. Well this year I really had visions of my Oregon Ducks raising the National championship trophy this year. We had so much going for us.....Then Dixon broke his twig leg and the Quackers lost to Arizona. That was followed by a lose to UCLA, they still suck Amanda! Then to top it off Dixon's replacement Brady Leaf gets injured. And yes that is Leaf as in the younger brother of sorry A#% Ryan Leaf. That leaves us with two Freshman quarterbacks to loss to Oregon State, Chop Chop, and loss in some sorry A&% Bowl game where we play a double directional school.

Over The Top

On Saturday Jonathon, Amanda, Mac, Ryan and others witnessed a total over the top Tennessee fan. And it just so happens that this girl was sitting at our table.

We found ourselves at Jocks and Jills in Midtown on Saturday watching the Tennessee vs. Kentucky game and the Georgia vs. Ga Tech game, Buzz Buzz! We should have known that we were in for a long day when this avid Tennessee fan told Ryan to leave because he was cheering for Kentucky. And when Ryan tried to speak his case he was told “we were here first” what is this…..Kindergarten?

The rest of day consisted of this girl saying F*&$ You to just about every single Kentucky and Georgia fan in the building. O and by the way when I say she was saying it…..I mean that she was screaming it at people and finger pointed in random peoples faces. She then proceeded to get into a fight with some girl in the bathroom because she was a Kentucky fan, she then tried to get into arguments with Mac and myself about a clear and cut Kentucky touchdown and a panda bear. She then teamed up with a girl at a near by table that just just about if not more psycho.

This girl was so bad that the waitress and many other patrons would walk by and look at her and the table with the “Are you for real” look. I totally wish I had some pics or camera footage of this train wreak.
